You stand a good chance of catching your own supper and at the same time experience the splendid countryside.
It is free to angle in the following lakes:
Mastrupsøerne (The Mastrup Lakes) in Støvring are suitable for an outing, you can angle for brown trout, roach and eel. During the winter, the brown trout go up into the lakes. You can park by the lake.
Hornum Sø (Hornum Lake) is known for the catch of European perch and Northern Pike as well as the opportunity of enjoying a fabulous bird life. There is a nature playground in connection with the lake.
The north-eastern area is owned by Rebild Municipality, the south-eastern is private and fishing is not allowed.
The big lake in Suldrup is about 11 km from Støvring. The largest depth is 1,8 m and here you can catch crucian carp and roach.
The lake is polluted and therefore mainly roaches live in it.
Mossø is south of Skørping at the place called “Jamborettepladsen” and here you can catch pike, perch, roach and eel.
The lake is owned by the forest “Skov- og Naturstyrelsen Himmerland”
The Lake “Store Økssø” has a path for disabled round the lake, it is situated south of Skørping and here you can catch pike, perch and eel.

In the stream Lindenborg Å you find sea trout, brown trout and rainbow trout. The stream is known by anglers far and wide.
In the many turns fish are waiting to be caught, and at the same time there is a fabulous view to Rold Skov wherever you go.
Simested Å is one of the best watercourses in Denmark with sea trout, and it is known for a famous strain of particularly large, self-reproducting sea trout.
The watercourse is 3 to 8 metres wide with moderate to good stream, a very clean watercourse with a lot of turns and deep holes. The surroundings are meadows and uncultivated areas.
Lerkenfeld Å rises at Mejlby south of Rold Skov and after a course of about 30 km it flows into Louns Bredning in Limfjorden. Lerkenfeld Å flows through a typical and very beautiful landscape in Himmerland with close hills and in a relatively narrow stream valley on the largest part of its course.
The stream is highly qualified as a biotope for the spawn and growth of the trout. The width on the day short distance is 6 to 10 metres, moderate to good stream. Here you find sea trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and eel. In the early spring and late autumn you can also find fine steelheads from the fiord Limfjorden in Lerkenfeld Å.
Put & Take angling:
An obvious resort for anglers is the put and take lake Volstrup Fiskepark.
Volstrup Fiskepark was established in 1993 in the stream valley west of Volstrup , and it is situated in an amazing beautiful landscape with a wonderful view over Simested Stream Valley. The area was earlier part of a meadow area with several natural sources which now are supplying the lake with fresh water.
Daily rainbow trout from 350 grams to one kilo are released, but you can also catch other sorts of trout and eel.
There is room for as well the family on an outing, the angler with ambition of more than one fish and the desperate man who has no fish for New Years Evening. Common for all of them is that you return home after a lovely nature experience and a lot of fresh air.
Volstrup Fiskepark is open all year round. In the winter the lake can be kept free of ice with a propeller, even if it is freezing hard. Angling competitions are organized.
