The Museum for fiddlers, hunting and forestry

Spillemands- Jagt og Skovbrugsmuseet

The museum was established in 1951 and is situated in the immediate vicinity of the National Park in Rebild and the surrounding forest.

The museum contains cultural historical collections from the Rold Forest area as well as special collections for forestry and folk music.
For centuries the forests in Himmerland has contributed to the existence of the local population.
Have a glimpse of the forest and the people over the years.

The small forest trades, production of wooden shoes, charcoal firing, basketwork etc. was a welcome supplement to farming. The organized forestry in the waste forest areas grew from the beginning of the 1800ies.

Get some ideas of the working methods in the forest before mechanizing began in the end of the 1950ies. The woodworking industry became important for the area from the last part of the 1800 years with a number of small and large sawmills.
The forest exhibition also includes a little collection of hunting weapons and tells about poachers and the robbers in Rold Forest.

The traditional folk music and dance has got its centre with the archive, exhibitions and different activities in the museum.

Come and try it yourself.
Entrance fees: adults DKK 25-, children accompanied by adults free.
