The forest driver, Frode Gustavsen, has worked in the forest for about 40 years and his knows the forest as the back of his hand. He tells about the trees, erosion holes, people and much more. His horse drawn carriage drives with or without a guide in all the State Forest.

Frode is familiar with Rold Forest, so of course you are welcome to ask questions on your way. Who knows – he might tell you a real cock-and-bull story.

The carriage is drawn by the horses Rasmus (a Hungarian horse) and Basse (a Polish horse). Both horses are particularly quiet and children-friendly.

In the forest-driver brochure are some suggestions for tours which we adjust to our guests’ special wishes. But as the roads in the forest are not always accessible it will finally be the driver who with his large knowledge of the forest will make the route.
Frode Gustavsen has got 2 different wedding coaches which both are very popular.
The price will be set at each occasion.

A ride with the horse drawn carriage does not need to be organized by the tourist office as Frode Gustavsen makes his own tours – you can reach him at this number between noon and 1 pm: 98 39 11 92.

The driver Ejgil Nielsen has been interested in horses since he was 8 years old and the interest has increased ever since. When he was 17 he bought his first horse and he has been occupied with almost any kind of horseracing.

The two horses that Ejgil drives in the forest are Nordic horses – “Nordbagger”. The breed has become very popular as a family horse in Denmark. The name of eldest of the horses is Vokal Halsnæs and Ejgil has had it since it was 4 month old. The other horse is Pegasus and Ejgil has had it since it was 5 years old.

14 – 16 grown-ups can sit in the carriage.
Normally you drive in the area of the State Forest, for driving outside this area you must consider extra payment.
All contact after 4 pm, it is also possible to leave a message on the answering machine.

A ride with the horse drawn carriage is offered Fridays from 5 pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays.
